Impact Businesses

At Bromleigh ethics are at the heart of everything we do. We actively seek to support small businesses that are making a positive community impact. We adopt both a positive and negative screening policy and as such, do not lend to businesses operating in industries with harmful effects on the community and the environment.

Bromleigh aims to support businesses who are driven by their core values, and the notion of positive change. We want to fund businesses that operate with a mission to have a meaningful impact on its community.

We don’t work with…

Bromleigh offers a special impact program that offers additional support to specific projects through discounted rates where particular goals are achieved and a robust business case is made. The criteria for assessing such applications consider the following:

Environmental:

Businesses must either:

  1. Be operating in industries which are dedicated to achieving environmental outcomes, which may include combatting pollution, waste, emissions, promoting recycling, clean technology products and services, energy efficiency, and clean transport;

  2. Be able to demonstrate initiatives directed towards minimising the environmental impact of day-to-day operations; or direct the funds from Bromleigh towards upgrades to more environmentally-friendly technologies or operations, for example, the purchase of solar panels.

Social:

Businesses must be able to:

1.     Demonstrate positive social community impacts as a result of business operations;

2.     Demonstrate workplace health and safety initiatives to protect employees; and

3.     Demonstrate employee-focused initiatives, centred around:

a.     Employee engagement;

b.     Employee training, education and career development; or

c.      Flexible working for employees.

Governance:

Businesses must be able to:

1.     Demonstrate equitable representation on the company’s board and/or management; 

2.     Demonstrate fair and equitable shareholder rights; and

3.     Demonstrate fair and equitable executive pay and incentives.

If businesses wish to apply for Bromleigh’s ethical business discounted rate, they must supply documentation responding to the above criteria.
